Parents

Parents are educators’ most valuable resources in promoting and maintaining the Adventist EDGE.  Teamwork among parents, educators, administrators, and church members is essential to instill Christian education in the lives of our children and others.

Christian education is part of God’s master plan in spreading the gospel.  As a community of believers, we are here to support each other with the great task Jesus has given us to complete before He returns.

Life-long learning begins and ends at home with parents as the first teachers in a child’s life.  Parents want their children to succeed, feel loved, and valued.  They demonstrate this by spending quality time with their children while they do homework, play games, and learn about life.  Learning then becomes enjoyable in a God-centered environment supported by parents and educators.

Students need their parents to be involved in school activities by assisting in classroom projects, serving as chaperones on field trips, attending parent-teacher conferences, and sharing their work experiences.  This will encourage students to listen, be respectful, have faith, use their imagination, and strive to become positive role models.

The challenge of financing Christian education can be better achieved with proper budgeting and planning.  This requires trust and dependence on God.  Early financial planning will help ensure success and encourage others to implement an educational savings plan at the birth of a child.  Additionally, sharing the experience of obeying God’s financial plan with your children will inspire them to become better stewards of their resources.

Parents are the key to helping their children grow into responsible Christian adults.

The parents in the home and the teachers in the school should have a sympathetic understanding of one another’s work. They should labor together harmoniously, imbued with the same missionary spirit, striving together to benefit the children physically, mentally, and spiritually, and to develop characters that will stand the test of temptations.”  Counsels to Teachers, p. 157

To provide opportunities for teachers and parents to cooperatively engage in assisting students in performing well the duties of the home as exemplified by the life of the Christ Child. See Adventist Home, 290:2

"If ever we are to work in earnest, it is now. The enemy is pressing in on all sides, like a flood. Only the power of God can save our children from being swept away by the tide of evil. The responsibility resting upon parents, teachers, and church members to do their part in cooperation with God is greater than words can express."   Counsels to Teachers, p. 166
