Secondary Education

"Character building is the most important work ever entrusted to human beings; and never before was its diligent study so important as now. Never was any previous generation called to meet issues so momentous; never before were young men and young women confronted by perils so great as confront them today." Education, chapter 25

The secondary segment of the Office of Education serves the academies and junior academies within the Southern Union, and works in conjunction with the education personnel at each of the eight conferences.

There are 16 day and boarding academies; 12 are conference-sponsored and four are self-supporting. The Southern Union, upon invitation, consults with the self-supporting academies regarding operations. The associate director for secondary education serves on the board of each of these academies. For additional information on our academies please check our resource page.

Another 26 junior academies are supported by secondary education. The secondary administrative assistant acts as registrar for these schools, keeping grade records up-to-date. The secondary education office also regulates school evaluations and accreditation for all schools Pre-K-12.
