The component parts that make up this initiative have been grouped into three subsets—central, enabling and supporting components. Central components that focus directly on student learning include curriculum, instruction, and assessment. Enabling components that enhance the learning process include climate, educational technology, time utilization and partnerships. Supporting components that underpin school improvement efforts include professional development, administrative leadership and development, resources, and governance.
